2010 Subaru Impreza WRX STI Carbon Concept

Subaru's Impreza STI is a legend in its own time. Generally a number of versions like the Spec C and the A-Line get put out during its life cycle and the Impreza WRX CARBON will be one of these. It is based on the A-Line model which features a 5-speed automatic gearbox - yes, you read correctly. In keeping with the softening of the STI's traditionally hardcore image the automatic transmission was introduced so more customers could appreciate the car's performance. The main difference with the CARBON model is that a carbon fibre roof has been fitted in order to achieve weight reduction, lower the centre of gravity and consequently offer better performance. Additionally suede fabric has been used in the interior to give that extra lushness and comfort. Two engines are currently found in the STI hatch, depending on the market. The most common one is the 2.0-litre turbo that makes 227kW (308hp) and 422Nm of torque. A number of other places get a 2.5-litre turbo making around 221kW (300hp) and maximum torque of 407Nm. The Impreza WRX CARBON will be unveiled publicly at the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show which starts 21 October for media and 24 October for the public. (Source: Subaru)

This image below speaksfor all. All you really need to know is that this isn't Dubai, Russia or even Germany – it's right here in Monterey for classic car week. You can probably identify the Mercedes-Benz inside that shiny wrapper on your own, but just in case you've recently taken an amnesia-inducing blow to the head, it's the Monterey SLS AMG GT3 – the race version of the company's new gullwing sports car. There's something to be said for having a mirror with you wherever you go, but this is a bit extreme. No matter, we think it looks amazing, even if it is just a wrap and not a polished car that's been stripped of its white paint to shed precious ounces before a race. Recent works created by German tuning specialist Karl Geiger is customized Hummer H2, a special paint finish, which responded with a “Latte Macciatto” and is a successful blend of chocolate as the base color with a lot of contrasting elements cream – beige. The combination of wheels and tires are in exclusive Mijas, 315/30R30 tires giant 30-inch chrome wheels. Behind the wheels are almost complete Brembo brakes 380 x 34 mm disc brakes and 4 piston fixed front and 380 x 32 mm discs with 2-piston calipers in the rear. Chassis has received additional stabilizers, struts and shock absorbers on the rear axle can be customized sports, including the decline, which is a good idea considering the very high performance of the Hummer H2 Geiger.
